Aussie Rules

Aussie Rules is a fast paced, physical game. Many say the sport combines the athleticism of basketball with the hits of rugby and the skills of football. You can be tall or short, a sprinter or a marathon runner, there is a position for you.

It is a sport that very few people are familiar with on this side of the world. Most members of the club had no experience of the game before coming to university. Despite this, our players, past and present, have gone on to play internationally and even at semi-professional level in Australia. In 2018-19 the women’s team won the National Universities League and the men’s team were runners up.

Aussie Rules welcomes everyone to the club, regardless of ability or experience. There is no pressure to play every week and there is a strong emphasis on the social side of the club. Every year Aussie Rules club members go on tour to a new location, with previous years having trips to Cardiff, Prague and Amsterdam.

Come down on a Wednesday and say g’day, you won’t regret it!
