The University of Birmingham Women’s Basketball Club is a highly unified club which has delivered incredible results, both in the BUCS competition and in the promotion of Women’s Basketball around the University.
In the 2018-2019 academic year, both of the Women’s BUCS teams successfully stayed in their leagues 1A and 2A. Similarly, the Women’s 3rd team had a great year competing in the University’s Campus League, and ended the year by winning Campus League Team of the Year.
Aside from the competitive aspect of the sport, the club is extremely social and holds weekly socials, including sober socials. These socials allow players from all three teams to get to know one another and will be sure to change your university experience.
Many of the players within the Women’s Basketball club are first time basketball players, and this creates an open and friendly environment for people of all abilities. The club is welcoming of all people and caters to students from all backgrounds, this is reflected in our winning the Pride Award at the University of Birmingham Sports Awards in June 2019.
How to get involved
Please note that on top of the club fee there is a £16 fee that covers personal accident insurance when training or competing for the University, access to free cross-training sessions such as circuits and yoga, as well as a contribution to the costs of affiliation to various national governing bodies. This fee is only payable once so if you did decide to join a second club then you would not need to pay a second fee.
