Club members 2016/17
Judo is an Olympic sport and martial art comprising of throws, holds, strangles and armlocks, the aim is to use your opponent’s weight against them, this means that your size doesn’t matter. We are coached by Fitzroy Davies, 6th Dan, who previously coached Craig Fallon who was both an Olympian and World Champion at U60kg, his expertise both technically and competitively allows every player to reach their goals. We are a friendly club that accepts players of all skill levels from the elite to complete novices.
We have seen success competitively at BUCS with our experienced players medalling individually and as teams as well at competitions for lower grades.
How to get involved
The membership price is £115 which reduces to £85 in term 2.
Taster session and/or trial information will be available soon!

Training times & venues
Wednesday: 16:30-18:00 (technical session)
Friday: 17:30-18:30 (Try sport, beginners session)
Friday: 18:30-20:00 (randori)
All training sessions take place in the dojo in Sport and Fitness.
We offer the opportunity for all levels of experience to participate. For those with previous experience we offer both technical and fighting based sessions to help prepare for competition.
For those new to judo we offer specialist beginner sessions through Try a Sport and are run by our committee members, these sessions will cover all the basics of judo from learning how to fall safely to basic throws, holds and submissions.
USIST is a mixed team event with teams comprising 2 women and 4 men. University teams from across the UK and Europe congregate in Sheffield for a weekend of competition, comradery and socialising. Irrespective of experience it can be counted on as being the yearly highlight with competitors of all grades fighting alongside each other and supporting their team as they fight for the title of student team of the year.
