Everyone is welcome at the University of Birmingham Snooker and Pool Club. Whether a complete beginner, casual player or have tournament experience, our varied sessions and competitions suit all players. Our ‘One Club’ ethos means that everyone becomes good friends away from the tables as well as improving their game on them.

We play 3 main disciplines: English 8-Ball, American 9-Ball and Snooker. Each of these have their own dedicated sessions with drills and games. We also have tournaments throughout the year across the country with dedicated BUCS events for each variation.

The membership fee is £35. Taster session and/or trial information will be available soon.

The highlight of our year is the BUCS 8-Ball at Great Yarmouth. Nearly 700 people compete with most club members attending. We have so many social events across the week as well as playing loads of pool.

Level of competition/participation:
BUCS competitions for 8-Ball (February), 9-Ball (December) and Snooker (March)
University based competitions throughout the year
Internal ongoing competitions for all members with multiple tiers
Social mini competitions during training
All members are eligible for all of this and we try to give all players a chance to play competitively

Interesting facts

  • We host an annual 9-Ball competition at the end of exams in early June. The 2016 event saw 78 players compete from 10m different Universities.
  • Our Snooker team had their joint best finish at BUCS in 2016/17, finishing runners-up in the Trophy.
  • We are competing in a local 8-Ball League for the first time in 2017.
