The Birmingham Netball 2s took on University of East Anglia’s 1st team on Wednesday in the Conference Cup Final. After a long journey and a slow start, the Birmingham girls stepped up the play and really showed that they deserved their place in the final.
There was excellent discipline in defence, with the girls applying plenty of pressure to UEA’s attacking players meaning that the opposition struggled to break into the circle to shoot on goal. In attack, Birmingham exhibited brilliant ball distribution, leading to countless successful shots on goal from the shooters who were on winning form.
The final result was an amazing and thoroughly deserved win for Birmingham of 64-23! It was a spectacular team effort and a great display of all the hard work that the girls have put into training throughout the year. Special mention must go to Kathryn Slater (C) who exhibited great defensive skills all over the court and also to Charlotte Bray (GS) who was on fire with exceptional shooting throughout the game.
“An amazing achievement and the team deserve it!” – Lucy Hoskin, Club Captain.
