The University of Birmingham Polo Club recently took part in the biggest polo tournament in the world, the SUPA Winter Nationals. It was a great demonstration of polo across all abilities with some excellent skills on display.
A record nine Birmingham teams participated, and each one showed great determination with some spectacular goals throughout the weekend. The hard work put in over the past few months, especially by our beginner teams, paid off. This manifested in a great improvement in teamwork and some impressive new shots being played. Our beginner teams showed some particularly determined ride offs, displacing the opponents and allowing for some convincing wins.
It was a great weekend of polo, and all teams have come away feeling proud of their performance. The highlight of the competition was the beginner 1st team being crowned champions of the mixed ability ‘median’ division, beating teams with much more experience. The players are now ready to train harder and look forward to their summer national competition! Follow their progress here.
