Super swimming Silver success

The UoB swimming ladies break club records in the Swim England Winter Nationals

The Swim England Winter Nationals in Sheffield last week saw a superstar UoB swimming team bring home a Silver, following a record-breaking medley.

The Winter Championships, which took place over five days from 13-17 December, is the biggest English level 1 swimming meet of the season, and comprised Britain’s top senior swimmers.

Swimming scholar Jess Shaw achieved a PB in the 100m backstroke heat, after which the successes of the team just kept growing. Jess kept the PB’s coming, in the B Final of the 50m backstroke where she came 6th (also achieving a club record!), and placing 10th in the 200m backstroke B Final. Then, as if that wasn’t enough, the Women’s 4 x 100m medley relay broke another club record and gained a fantastic Silver medal.

Gary Humpage, Coach, said that he was delighted with the results and how the girls were climbing the ranks.

‘I am very pleased with the performance of the team – they are swimming very well and a long course early in the year is a great start.’
