UoB Representation at the Archery World Cup

UoB Materials Science Student, Eleanor Piper, has been selected to represent Team GB at the Hyundai Archery World Cup 2018 in Shanghai.

The World Cup competition has been running since 2006, in which archers compete in 4 different stages in 4 different countries. The best 8 archers of each category then advance to an additional stage to contest the Archery World Cup Final.

Eleanor has been selected to participate in the women’s recurve team for stage 1, alongside Sarah Bettles, Bryony Pitman and Louisa Piper. Archery GB said about the selection:

“The women’s team has newcomers and therefore dynamics which is a great opportunity for them to grasp and build the foundations for a strong international profile this season”.

This is Eleanor’s first senior selection, so it’s a huge achievement for her! She has been competing at Junior International level for Great Britain since 2015 and most recently she won team Bronze at the European Youth Championships in Bucharest in 2016.

For anyone wanting to tune in and support Eleanor, the event will be broadcast live on Eurosport from the 23rd to the 28th of April. For more details of the official team announcement, read more here.
