University of Birmingham Sports Scholar India Wishart represented Team GB at the Student Rider Nations Cup (SRNC) World Finals which took place from the 29th to the 31st of December in Poland.
The SRNCs are a real test of horsemanship, in that riders compete on unfamiliar horses supplied especially for the event. This makes the team’s performance at this event even more impressive and a show of the riders’ ability rather than the horses’. The first round of the competition was dressage ridden together as a team, followed by individual performances in the dressage and show jumping events.
India put in an incredible individual performance to win Gold in the combined individual event and Bronze in the individual dressage, but the success didn’t end there. India, along with teammates Sophie Hall and Rupert Batting, pulled off a Golden hat-trick with victories in the overall combined event, as well as both the dressage and show jumping events.
As a result of so many successful performances throughout 2017, this British team of three have made history by winning the World University Equestrian Federation (AIEC) President’s Cup. This is awarded to the team with the highest overall team rankings from all SRNCs over the year.
