The Women’s Football 2s took on Nottingham at home this week and managed to bag a 2-0 win!
Birmingham started the game strongly, with a new formation meaning that the team was in a more attacking mindset. Despite the awful weather conditions, the Birmingham girls passed the ball around nicely with one touch passing throughout. The defence looked consistently comfortable on the ball, which had been worked on in training by coaches Tash, Neerav and Brad.
The breakthrough came when Nottingham’s goalkeeper didn’t clear her lines and Aimee Taylor volleyed the ball into the back of the net. The team continued to keep possession and managed to double their lead in the last minute, with a free kick. Aimee Taylor stepped up and scored her second goal of the game.
This strong start to second term means that the girl have won 3 point for Birmingham in the BUCS league! Hopefully their form will continue in the coming weeks.
