Touch Rugby

Student Club

The University of Birmingham Touch Rugby Club is an extremely fun, friendly, and inclusive club. We are a mixed-gender sport and whether you have played touch or rugby before or never even picked up a rugby ball, we welcome players of all abilities. Joining touch is a great way to improve your fitness, and broader core sports skills. We offer four hours of training per week open to all members with our coaches tailoring training sessions to all abilities.

Having just hosted the Touch World Cup in Nottingham, Touch is an incredibly exciting sport to be involved in and is one of the fastest-growing sports in the country. Our club is reflective of this and we have grown massively over the last couple years, with approximately 100 members of an even male/female split, so is a really great way to meet people. We have built an amazing club culture through our exciting and inclusive socials. We go at the Guild for Sports Night every Wednesday, and have other events throughout the year including our summer ball and tour! We also enter teams into the campus Football and Netball leagues.

From a competitive standpoint, last year our first and second team achieved 8th and 13th place finishes respectively in the BUCS National Touch Championships. As well as BUCS we have a development squad and participate in tournaments and friendly fixtures against local touch clubs and universities, so there are lots of playing opportunities for everyone throughout the year. We also have great opportunities to play outside of the university scene. We have great connections with Revolution Touch Club based in Harborne and the West Midland Wildcats regional teams and take the next step to play international touch.
