Turn up at any point during term and get involved with a range of different sports. Open to all, including community non-members, Social Sport sessions are pay as you go with all equipment provided.

Our Just Play sessions will give you maximum game time hosted by our Sport Activators. If you are looking to improve on your skills or learn a new sport, our Coach & Play sessions (previously known as Try a Sport) will provide some coaching as well as an opportunity to put this into practice in some friendly games.

Try-a-Sport courses are also now LIVE and bookable. See below for instructions on how to book. Try something new and build your skills with our activators and coaches!

Looking to try something new?

Try-a-Sport kickboxing and boxing sessions are FREE for two weeks. Work with an experienced coach to learn new skills, meet new people and experience a new sport.


Wednesday 26 October – Kickboxing 7-8pm, Boxing 8-9pm

Wednesday 2 November – Kickboxing 7-8pm, Boxing 8-9pm

Mondays and Tuesdays 12-12.40pm (5-week course) 


Social Sport and Try-a-Sport prices are for one session.

Please note: depending on sport, try-a-sport sessions are either pay-as-you-go, or paid by enrolling onto a course. If you enrol onto a try-a-sport course, you pay for all sessions in the course in one payment. See timetable for information on whether try-a-sport offers are courses or sessions.

How to book

Already have an account with us?

Students and staff at the University automatically have a Sport & Fitness account. To request your PIN, just follow the Forgotten Your PIN? link on the log in pageSimply login, select Make A Booking, then choose the Try A Sport category, and select the session.

New to Sport & Fitness

If you’re new to Sport & Fitness and would like to come to a Social Sport session, please follow these instructions on how to create an account and book.

  1. Login using your email address and PIN. If you have forgotten your PIN, just click the ‘Forgotten your PIN?’ link on the login page and it will be emailed to you.
  2. Click ‘Make a Booking’ from the menu
  3. Click ‘Social Sport’ from the menu
  4. Choose your session 
  5. You can check your bookings in the ‘Manage Bookings’ section in the main menu. This is also where you can cancel your session up to two-hours before if you’re no longer able to attend.
