On Sunday 6th May 2018 the Simplyhealth Great Birmingham 10k comes to Birmingham City Centre! Due to the HUGE debut success of 2017, we will once again be entering a University of Birmingham team with our own starting wave.

Our chosen charity for this year is the University’s 10,000 lives campaign – your fundraising will support our mission to change the lives of 10,000 young people connected to the University. Find out more about 10,000 Lives here.

10k Business Challenge

As well as our Team UoB entry into the Great Birmingham 10k on Sunday 6 May, we will also enter the 10k Business Challenge. In 2017, a team of runners representing the University of Birmingham won the award for the category of ‘Large Business Mixed Team’ by running the fastest combined time. In 2018, we will once again be entering the 10k Business Challenge, teams (male, female or mixed) can be made up of a minimum of 4 runners and a maximum of 8, with as many teams being submitted to represent University of Birmingham as we wish. So if you are a keen runner and would like to represent Team UOB, please contact Alison Lee (Participation Development Officer) for more information.

Great Run Local – Vale Village

Why not train for the 10k by taking part in a weekly free-to-enter timed 2K or 5K run at the Vale Village. Great Run Local (Vale Village) is organised by volunteers from Cool Runnings  and provides a safe and fun environment to build up your distance slowly. The run starts every Sunday at 10:30am and is suitable for all ages and abilities, as well as an ideal opportunity to meet other runners as you enjoy the scenic route around the lake. For more information and to register: If you would be interested in volunteering, please email
