Sport Hall of Fame 2025
Thursday 30 October
Edgbaston Park Hotel
The Hall of Fame aims to showcase sport in its entirety at the University of Birmingham, recognising and celebrating those who have significantly contributed to the national and international landscape of sport, and in doing so have maximised pride and affinity to the institution.
Nominations for the 2025 Hall of Fame are now open!
If you would like to recognise any outstanding individuals for any of the below categories, please do so by completing the form before 2 June 2025.
Sport Hall of Fame Categories
Whilst it is often tempting to celebrate solely the achievements of the sportspeople themselves, our Hall of Fame also acknowledge and honour those that have supported, influenced, contributed to and ultimately paved the way for these successes.
Sportspeople
Evidence of success at the pinnacle of their sport; such as an Olympic, Paralympic or World Championship medallist, or a significant period of sustained excellence at the highest level of competition.
Coaches & Performance Practitioners
Evidence of providing bespoke support and/or influencing athletes’ performance significantly towards success at the highest levels within their sport. A Performance Practitioner may be, but is not limited to, a strength & conditioning coach, physiologist, physiotherapist, psychologist, nutritionist or performance lifestyle coach.
Gamechangers
Inspiring individuals who have made a significant contribution to the sporting landscape through their role. This may include academics, leaders, administrators, volunteers, broadcasters, officials, and other remarkable individuals who have made an instrumental impact in sport.

FAQs
There is no limit on submissions, but please ensure all the accompanying information is completed.
There is currently no specific number of successful candidates in each category each year, but we expect our inaugural year to have a larger number inducted. Following the launch year, the inductees may be limited to a select few per year.
A committee, including the Director of Sport and representatives from External Relations, Sport Ex R, and the Alumni office, will meet and review all submissions. Inductees will be selected on the basis of consensus among the committee members.
Please note: ‘Sport’ is defined as an Olympic, Paralympic or Commonwealth Games sport, and/or fully professionalised sports.
The University of Birmingham obtains the right to revoke any award to the Hall of Fame at its discretion, according to its Revocation Policy.
