Brumski is the University of Birmingham’s Snowsports Society.
As the largest and most active society at the university; we have over 800 members, making up the official Ski and Snowboard teams who can be found regularly tearing up the dry slopes of the UK and the pistes of the Alps, with hundreds of their peers cheering them on from the sidelines.
We offer weekly race training and bi-weekly freestyle training for a wide variety of abilities, whether that’s advanced skill progression for experienced racers or confidence-nurturing and introductory sessions for beginners. Brumski competes in national events throughout the year and takes 800 UoB students annually to the mountains for a week of skiing, snowboarding, partying and HUGE events.
We compete in dual slalom and individual slalom events at a regional and national level – on snow and on dry slopes.
National freestyle events take place on dryslope in Edinburgh and on snow in Milton Keynes.
In early November, the British Universities Dryslope Ski Championships are held over a weekend at Hill End in Edinburgh. This is by far the highlight of our competitive calendar, and can only be described as a celebration of British grassroots snow sports, which is just as fun to spectate as it is to compete in!
We compete in two BUCS competitions a year as well as several regional competitions. All BUCS competitions provide the opportunity to compete as an individual and develop your personal skills, or within a number of ability-based teams, competing in dual slalom events and allowing you to share your successes with your teammates.
Ask any of our approachable committee for more info on our trip, competitions, socials, and any other events, and we can’t wait to see you on the snow for 2023/24!
