Group Exercise Classes

All classes are inclusive and suitable for all abilities and ages as part of a Sport & Fitness membership or via Pay & Go.

Scroll down to view our full timetable and our class dictionary. All class equipment is provided, all you need is comfortable clothing and a water bottle.

  • For Cardio, Toning and Dance classes, we recommend supportive trainers.
  • For Aqua classes, all swimwear is acceptable, noting that cotton-based clothing will create additional drag in the water.

We have five studio spaces across Sport & Fitness; Studio 1, Studio 2, Dojo, Cycle Studio and a Stretch Room (Ergo Studio). Classes also take place in the swimming pool, on-campus and on our tennis courts.

With over 150 classes per week at Sport & Fitness, there is something for everyone. Our popular exercise classes are inclusive and suitable for all abilities.

Take your pick from our extensive range of classes that take place in our dedicated studio spaces, from holistic sessions like yoga, Body Balance and Pilates to high-intensity workouts such as Body Attack™, GRIT (HIIT) and Body Combat™. We also offer a range of Aqua classes including Aqua Fit, Aqua Natal and Swim Fitness. Our expert instructors will ensure you get the most out of your class. Class Dictionary

Confused about which class is right for you? What on earth is Body Pump?

Our class dictionary gives you a full overview of what each class involves and who they are suitable for.

Aqua Fit – A fun cardio class with none of the impact, toning your body using the resistance of water. Instructors keep the workout varied and challenging using aqua equipment. Suitable for ages 14+.

 

Aqua Natal – Aqua Natal is a cardio class with a blend of relaxation and exercise for parents-to-be. Instructors keep the workout varied, fun and safe for baby!

 

Deep Aqua Fit – An Aqua Fit class that takes place in the deep end of the pool. Ability requirement: Must be a confident swimmer in the deep end. Suitable for ages 14+.

 

Swim Fitness – An interval-based class which aims to improve aerobic and anaerobic fitness through lane swimming! Each session will work on different strokes, distances and pace. Ability requirement: continuous 50m in front crawl and at least 1 other stroke. Suitable for ages 14+.

Body Attack – A high-energy cardio workout to amazing music. Body Attack uses interval training with athletic, aerobic, agility and strength movements for amazing fitness results. Suitable for ages 14+.

 

Body Combat – An empowering, stress-relieving martial arts inspired workout that is completely non-contact. Moves are inspired from Karate, Muay Thai, Capoeira, Boxing and Kung Fu, set to a great playlist. Suitable for ages 14+.

 

Body Step – A fun, uplifting mix of upbeat, rhythmic stepping with squat and lunge patterns to work the legs – a great all-body workout, no coordination required! Suitable for ages 14+.

 

Campus Circuits – An outdoor circuits class with a balanced mixture of strength and cardio, tailored to your fitness level. Suitable for ages 14+.

 

Cardio Tennis – A fun, inclusive group fitness class with a tennis twist! Open to all ages and abilities, with no tennis skills required! Feel free to bring your own racket, but all equipment is provided. Suitable for ages 18+.

 

Circuits – Many varied exercise stations are used for short 30-45 second intervals, building mobility, strength and stamina. Instructors demonstrate and coach all the moves throughout, so this class is suitable for all abilities. Suitable for ages 14+.

 

Cycle – An indoor cycling class with enthusiastic instructors and an energetic playlist powering you along. With power blocks using the beat of the music, as well as sprint intervals, strength blocks, and recoveries throughout, this class is perfect for all abilities. Suitable for ages 14+.

 

GRIT HIIT – A high-intensity small group circuits class working for 40 secs on and 20 secs rest, sandwiched between a dynamic warm-up and cool down. This class will provide both cardio and strength elements for an all-round fitness boost. Suitable for ages 18+.

 

High Intensity Functional Hybrid Classes – A high intensity functional hybrid training style class, aimed at people curious to try or thinking about entering a hybrid/ Hyrox style competition. Or for people who want to push themselves to the max. Incorporating functional body weight movements in a group environment. Suitable for ages 18+.

 

Intro To Cycle – Perfect for those new to indoor cycling, take this workout at your pace with experienced instructors, who will help with all the essentials of bike set up, riding positions, and understanding the screens and bike settings. Perfect for those new to indoor cycling & Techno Gym bikes, and to get the most out of cycle classes! Suitable for ages 14+.

 

RPM – A group indoor cycling workout where you control the intensity. A fun, challenging and varied class set to energetic music that delivers maximum results! Suitable for ages 14+.

 

Sprint – High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) workout on a bike with rapid results and minimal joint impact. From high speed to hill climb, this class packs all your workout needs into 30 minutes! Suitable for ages 14+.

Barre – A ballet and dance inspired 30/45-minute workout, designed to tone all muscles and build core strength. No previous experience of dance required! Suitable for ages 14+.

 

Body Jam – A cardio dance workout that sets you free. An addictive fusion of the latest dance styles and hottest new sounds. The emphasis is on having fun and breaking a sweat, where instructors teach you to move with attitude and confidence. Suitable for ages 14+.

 

Dance Party – A fun and free party dance class, with a great mix of 80s, 90s, and current classic tunes! No dance experience needed, simple routines to follow, or make up your own moves as you go! Suitable for ages 14+.

 

Zumba – Zumba combines Latin and international music with simple dance moves for a fun way to get fit! Suitable for all abilities, with clear visual (non-verbal) instructions. Suitable for ages 14+.

Ashtanga Yoga – A vigorous and athletic style of yoga, which involves synchronising the breath with a progressive series of postures. Perfect for those already familiar with yoga and those looking for a challenge. Suitable for ages 18+.

 

Body Balance – Body Balance is a calming combination of Flow Yoga, Tai Chi and Pilates, building flexibility and strength set to beautiful music. Suitable for all abilities and during pregnancy. Suitable for ages 14+.

 

Chill Yoga – A relaxed, mostly seated and lying yoga class with low lighting and soft music for a lovely, chilled evening. Perfect for beginners and anyone already familiar with yoga. Suitable for ages 14+.

 

CIRCL Mobility – A holistic mobility class designed to improve range of motion through active and passive stretching. Movement patterns are sequenced and then put together into a flow, alongside calming music. Modification and progression options available. Suitable for ages 14+.

 

Core & Yoga – This class is an excellent way to improve strength, flexibility and wellbeing, with sequences of movements designed to target your back, stomach and legs. Great for beginners and those already used to yoga. Suitable for ages 14+.

 

Flow/Vinyasa Yoga – Coordinating breath with a flow of movement between poses, this class is a great way to improve fitness, flexibility and wellbeing. Perfect for beginners and those already used to yoga. Suitable for ages 14+.

 

Hatha Yoga – Hatha yoga is a slower form of yoga, promoting balance and strength through meditation, and standing and seated postures. This class is suitable for all abilities and is an excellent way to relax your body and mind. Suitable for ages 14+.

 

Kundalini Yoga – This type of Yoga incorporates steady dynamic stretching and movement, combined with breath and mantra. This yoga also includes mantra (use of sound and voice) and meditation, to help relax your mind and body and increase body awareness. You do not need a particular fitness level or to already be flexible to participate in and benefit from Kundalini yoga. Suitable for ages 14+.

 

Meditation – Take part in a guided step-by-step meditation and breathwork session. No prior experience is required, just an interest and willingness to direct attention inwards. Suitable for ages 14+.

 

Pilates – A great class for strengthening the deep core muscles in your back, stomach, and legs, using slow movement and breath to increase the intensity. The perfect class for those recovering from injuries and catering for all abilities. Suitable for ages 14+.

 

Tai Chi – A Yang style Tai Chi class. Learn a series of calming and low impact movement patterns to connect mind and body, improve fitness, memory and flexibility. Suitable for ages 14+.

 

Wake Up Yoga – An early morning Hatha/Flow inspired yoga incorporating stretches, flowing poses and breathing exercises setting you up for the day – this class is perfect for all abilities. Suitable for ages 14+.

 

Yoga/Pilates – Very calming, with relaxation at the start and end of the practice. Poses are held for around 3 minutes each, using comforting supports such as bolsters, blocks and mats to support flexibility level and help your muscles fully relax. Suitable for ages 14+.

Abs Tone –Abs Tone focuses on strengthening and toning exercises for your mid-section using your bodyweight and light hand weights. Suitable for ages 14+.

 

Body Pump – The original barbell workout that challenges all your major muscle groups by using squats, presses, lifts, and curls – all to great music! Suitable for ages 18+.

 

Boxercise – Boxercise starts with a group cardio warm up, followed by varied circuits stations for 1 minute each, with recoveries between. Covering boxing moves, toning, strengthening, and cardio, this class is perfect for all and anyone new to fitness. Suitable for ages 18+.

 

GGT Conditioning – A mixture of cardio and varied weights exercises, mixing body weight and free weights, performed at different intensities in different formats to give an overall balanced conditioning effect. Suitable for ages 18+.

 

GGT Strength – Use a combination of barbells, dumbbells, and bodyweight exercise stations, to improve your strength and cardiovascular fitness. Suitable for ages 18+.

 

GRIT Strength – GRIT Strength now takes place as Weights and Conditioning on a Wednesday at 6.10pm. 

 

LBT Tone – LBT Tone is a low impact cardio workout that sculpts and tones your body using equipment, light weights and body weight exercises, targeting the legs, bum and tummy. Suitable for ages 14+.

 

LBT&C – A low impact class, perfect for anyone new or returning to exercise! Uses a range of bodyweight exercises and light hand weights to cover key movements like squats, lunges, stretches and much more! Suitable for ages 14+.

 

Tone – Tone is the perfect mix of cardio, toning and core training with great music and a huge variety of exercises. Combining movement with a combination of body weight and light hand weights, Tone is suitable for all abilities. Suitable for ages 14+.

 

Weights & Conditioning – A fun and friendly, full body conditioning class utilising body weight exercises, weights and gym equipment. Suitable for ages 18+.

How to Book Classes

Pay & Go classes

If classes are not included in your membership, or you don’t have a membership with us but would like to attend any of our classes, you can do so with Pay & Go. 

 

If you are a UOB Staff or student, you will already have an account follow the How to Book section entering your UOB email details and clicking ‘forgot your PIN’. 

 

You can book and pay for one class easily with Pay & Go, or you can buy a voucher bundle to save on the price-per-class! Please note, the best way to book classes is via our app. 

 

Please note, buying voucher bundles and booking classes are two separate systems. If you would like to purchase a voucher bundle to book multiple classes, please purchase this before you try and book a class.

How to book

  1. Login using your Sport & Fitness login details.
  2. Click Home or Make A Booking to browse through our classes 
  3. Select the class you wish to attend and book your space
  4. You can book up to seven days in advance

How to cancel a booking

You can cancel a class via the app or online up to four hours in advance. Please cancel to avoid a ‘no-show.’

To cancel online via the Sport and Fitness Connect portal, please log in and go to ‘Manage Bookings’, then click the rubbish bin icon. 

To cancel via the app, please go to your booked class under the ‘Classes’ section OR the ‘My Bookings’ and click the ‘Cancel’ button.
