Women's Basketball
Student Club
We are the Women’s Basketball club of the University, consisting of 2 teams competing in BUCS and 1 development team. Our first team competes in Tier 1 of the Midlands region and our second team in Tier 3.
Our first and second team trains for around two to three sessions per week with around eight games throughout the academic year.
Our development team competes in Campus League every Saturday and trains one to two times per week.
We welcome players from all levels to join our club, as well as international, local or exchange students.
We host a yearly varsity event in the University – Rebellion – that involves nail-biting basketball games with hundreds of spectators.
Last year, the club went on tour in Spain for 6 days and competed against teams from all over the world and we look forward to going again this coming year.

Inclusion, Accessibility and Disability Practices
The Women’s Basketball Club offers an inclusive space that accommodates players of all levels, from beginners to development squad members and competitive teams. Off-court engagement is encouraged through social events such as pasta nights and board game café trips, which help new members integrate into the sports community. The club prioritises confidence-building in female athletes, recognizing the intimidation that can come with trying a new sport. To support player development, structured coaching and mentorship within the development squad have been introduced, leading to increased participation and improved performance in campus league games.
The club adapts training sessions to be as accessible as possible, particularly for injured players who may not be able to fully participate. These members remain engaged through team talks, side line support, and ball-handling drills. The training venue is widely accessible, ensuring participation for those with disabilities. Additionally, campus league games are open to all players, including those requiring additional equipment, reinforcing the club’s commitment to inclusivity.
