Student Club

The UoB Brazilian Jiu Jitsu club is one of the uni’s newest clubs. Starting in the second term of 2023 we quickly became an established club at UoB, we now have a full timetable of 5 sessions per week, an elite coaching staff and a diverse team which is always growing.

We accept everybody, no matter who you are or what your goals are; we aim to make our club a place where anybody can train and learn high quality BJJ. Whether you want to compete, or are just looking to give BJJ a go, we can assure you, we have a place for you.

What sets us apart from other clubs is our elite coaching staff led by Bradley Hill, head coach and founder of Royal Jiu Jitsu, our affiliate team.

We are very proud to have talents such as Melissa Hill, Brad Walton and Cameran Jheeta on our coaching staff.

Melissa was a National champion at purple belt, she’s also a Polaris invitational champion, Europe’s biggest BJJ promotion event. Melissa a rising star in the UK competition scene, and a great advocate for women’s BJJ, running very popular women’s self defence courses.

Brad is an elite competitor who started training under Royal Jiu Jitsu in 2022, since then he has won the British Grand Prix, the Nogi British open, 2x IBJJF Paris open, 2x IBJJF London open, IBJJF Rome Open, on top of that he has taken the podium in the biggest competitions in the world, medalling at the IBJJF PAN American Championships, the IBJJF European Championships, and the IBJJF World Championships.

Cameran is a black belt at Royal Jiu Jitsu who has been a student of Bradley Hill for almost 15 years achieving high success on the junior circuit, winning the IBJJF Pan American Championships. Since then Cameran has devoted his time to passing on his wisdom and knowledge to the next generation.

With us you’ll have the opportunity to compete in local and National level competitions as well as the annual university league competition. And we’ll be there with you every step of the way to offer our guidance and support.
