Men's Cricket

Men’s Cricket is a thriving club which has created a competitive yet inclusive environment.

We have four BUCS Teams in total, with our First XI competing in the Northern Premier League.

Throughout winter, we hold weekly training sessions at Edgbaston, alongside regular fielding and strength and conditioning sessions.

With the University recently agreeing a partnership with Warwickshire CCC, it is an incredibly exciting time to be part of the club.

There are many opportunities to get involved in Cricket – including both Friendly and Development teams, and further opportunities to develop into different teams based on performance.

Social Cricket

We are Europe’s biggest social cricket society, welcoming players of all abilities to enjoy cricket in a fun, relaxed environment. With over 70 organised fixtures each year, we play every Wednesday at Weolly Hill Cricket Club and have away days at universities and clubs throughout the week.

Cricsoc is perfect for everyone — whether you’ve played to a high standard and want plenty of game time and big socials, or you’re completely new to the sport and looking for a great way to balance uni life with no pressure. Our weekly training sessions at Edgbaston cater for all abilities and take place in top-quality facilities.

Alongside cricket, we run weekly themed socials and secure sports night tickets every week — the biggest and best night out at uni! We also hold sober socials throughout the year for everyone to enjoy.

Every year, we also go on an unforgettable annual tour, giving members the chance to play cricket in new places and make amazing memories on and off the pitch.

Beyond cricket, we compete in the campus football league, fielding two 6-a-side teams and one 11-a-side team every week. We also organise golf trips to local courses — and sometimes venture further afield!

Check out our socials to see what we’re all about.

Inclusion, Accessibility & Disability Practices

The Men’s Cricket Club fosters a supportive environment by hosting weekly welfare mornings where members can confidentially discuss personal concerns. Additionally, group walks during warmer months promote team bonding and provide a relaxed setting for social interaction. Annual talks from “Opening Up Cricket,” a charity focused on mental health awareness, encourage open conversations about mental well-being in the sport.

The club ensures accessibility by training at Edgbaston Indoor Centre, where prayer rooms are available for those who require them. Furthermore, all training venues are easily accessible, ensuring inclusivity for all members. These efforts contribute to a welcoming and supportive cricket community.
