Women's Cricket

Student Club

University of Birmingham Women’s cricket club is a sociable and welcoming club, ranging from beginners to BUCS level players. We offer multiple training sessions throughout the week, with a weekly squad training session that boasts a professional coach at the Edgbaston indoor training facility, social/beginner-friendly club trainings and softball sessions.

The first team competes in the BUCS Premier League (South), and we enter two BUCS indoor teams. The second team compete competitively against more local universities throughout the summer. We also offer an indoor softball league designed for beginners throughout the winter and some softball matches in the summer. Additionally, we offer friendlies for all abilities throughout the year.

We enter a netball team into the campus league who play matches on a Saturday afternoon throughout semester one. There are a variety of social events throughout the year such as weekly sports nights, charity fundraisers, sober walks, coffee trips and watching cricket at Edgbaston which provide excellent opportunities for team bonding and is a great way to meet new people! Additionally, an inclusion officer hosts a weekly drop-in session for members to discuss any concerns, ensuring a supportive atmosphere.

To remove financial barriers, the club provides shared cricket kits, gloves (for both left- and right-handed players), bats, and sufficient cricket balls. This ensures that all members, regardless of financial background, can participate in training and matches without the need to purchase expensive equipment.
