Student Club

Welcome to the University Cycling Club, a friendly and inclusive community for cyclists of all levels! Our athletes ride a range of disciplines from track to cyclo-cross, road to gravel. Whether you’re an experienced rider or brand new to cycling, we’re excited to have you join us on this two-wheeled adventure.

Regular training sessions include twice a week road rides, catering to various speeds and distances, and indoor spin sessions. We also host women and non-binary rides, velodrome sessions, as well as two weekends away to face the hardest, most well-known, climbs in the UK at a discounted rate.

For those new to cycling, we offer educational sessions where you can learn essential bike maintenance skills and gain confidence in group riding. Our experienced riders will guide you through the process, helping you develop the necessary techniques to make your cycling experience safe and enjoyable.

For those interested in racing, we organize exciting events such as criterium races and velodrome sessions, allowing you to explore different disciplines and push your limits. Our athletes also have the opportunity to compete for the university in downhill, hill-climb, time trial, track, and road racing disciplines at BUCS.

We offer a two-week taster period so whether you’re a seasoned cyclist or just getting started, we encourage you to get in touch or come along to one of our rides. We can’t wait to meet you, share our passion for cycling, and make lasting memories together.

Indoor Cycle Studio

Our indoor cycle studio is equipped with spin bikes and watt bikes.

Training Times

Exact times will be confirmed by the club upon registration.

Competition Opportunities

The club competes each year in the BUCS Downhill Championships, 10-mile and 25-mile Time Trials, Track Championships, Road Race Championships, Hill Climb Championships and Team Time Trial.

Membership Price

£50 full-year membership includes:  

  • Maximum 22 weeks x 1 spin session per week

  • Travel to Autumn and Summer training camp

  • Affiliations to British Cycling

  • Access to track sessions

  • Accommodation and food provided for Autumn and Summer Training Camp

Extra – not compulsory  

  • Autumn Training camp – £50 per person

  • Summer Training camp – £90 per person

  • Track days – £15 per person per day
    Club related social Activity

  • Individual club clothing purchased – varied on price

  • Ability to hire a bike through various club activites
