a certified baller, you’re guaranteed to find what you’re after. With a variety of competitive teams and casual sessions, along with a buzzing social scene, we offer the perfect blend of sport and community.
Our Club
UoB Basketball welcomes players of all levels, offering both relaxed recreational sessions and competitive opportunities.
Those who prefer a casual environment can join weekly social basketball or enter a team into the Campus League, enjoying the game while meeting new people.
Players seeking a more serious challenge can attend September try‑outs for a chance to join one of our three BUCS teams, all competing regularly against rival universities.
Our Men’s and Women’s clubs come together throughout the year for joint events, including our major varsity showcase, Rebellion, which fills Munrow Arena with over 400 spectators, half‑time performances and a huge atmosphere. The club also runs a wide range of socials and tournaments, including popular 3×3 events and trips abroad to places like Lyon and Barcelona.
Whether you want to play competitively, enjoy relaxed weekly games, or simply find a fun and welcoming community, UoB Basketball offers something for everyone.
Facilities
Munrow Arena
Our multi-sport arena can host three full court basketball games. It also has a full show court with bleacher seating capable of seating 600.
Gym
Our state-of-the-art gym is available for all your strength and conditioning needs.
Training Times
- Monday: 1s and 2s morning training
- Tuesday: 1s evening training
- Thursday: 2s evening training
- Saturday: Devs Training and Campus League
Exact times will be confirmed by the club upon registration.
Competition Opportunities
Three teams that compete in BUCS leagues, 1s and 2s competing in BUCS 2, 3s competing in BUCS 4.

Memberships are available to students and non-students

BUCS Teams (1s and 2s): £305 per year
Development Team: £85 per semester

Social Basketball
If you are interested in recreational basketball, we offer weekly social basketball sessions as part of our Social Sport programme. Sessions will either be coached by a qualified coach, or ‘just play’.
Campus League
Campus League Basketball is open to all staff and students where you can participate in regular social sport leagues and one-off tournaments throughout the academic year. You can enter as part of your existing departmental team, society, halls or simply just as a group of friends.
