Rugby League
Whether you’ve never thrown a rugby ball before or are an
aspiring professional, the Birmingham Lions are a hardworking
team that welcomes members of all abilities. We are a dedicated
and friendly squad, offering weekly training sessions that aim to
help each player reach their potential and develop their skills to
achieve it.
Our Club
The UoB team is a close‑knit, friendly club with a strong social atmosphere and a real emphasis on fun during training. This approach helps newcomers learn the game, feel comfortable quickly and integrate easily with existing squad members. Because the club is small enough for everyone to train together, members enjoy a high level of inclusivity and a genuine family feel across the whole squad.

The club compete on our Bournbrook pitches, right here on campus.
Metchley Pitches
The club frequently train on Metchley 3G.
Gym
Our state-of-the-art gym is available for all your strength and conditioning needs.
Training Times
- Monday: 3.30pm-5.00pm
- Sunday: 1.00pm-3.00pm
Exact times will be confirmed by the club upon registration.
Competition Opportunities
UoB competes in BUCS Southern 2A, playing both home and away fixtures against a strong field of universities — a great chance for members to showcase the hard work put in during training.

Alongside league competition, weekly Wednesday socials help the squad bond and build strong relationships off the pitch. If you’re interested in getting involved, the club is always happy to welcome new members, and you can reach out easily via Instagram or email.
