The University of Birmingham Water Polo Club is an inclusive, friendly and ambitious club with training and match play opportunities for everyone, from complete beginner sessions and matches to BUCS–level competitions.
We have four pool-based training sessions scheduled across the week, as well as other activities such as strength and conditioning sessions, organised runs, netball, football, touch rugby and regular social activities.
Club President: Katharine Smith
Our Club
We are a club of approximately 60 members across four teams, run by a committee of 13 members. This includes four team captains, who are responsible for organising training sessions and matches for their respective teams. Our women’s first team competes in the BUCS Southern Premier League, while our men’s first team competes in the BUCS West Midlands Division 1. Our second teams regularly play friendly matches against other local universities and also compete in a nationwide friendly league.
The remainder of our committee is made up of social secretaries, inclusion officers, a treasurer, a secretary, a social media secretary, a vice-president, and a president. Together, the committee works to support the club both on and off the pitch, ensuring that our members have a welcoming, inclusive, and enjoyable experience.
As well as our training and matches, we always welcome people to get involved with our activities outside the pool, such as our regular socials or campus league teams who play netball, football and touch rugby during the year.Â

There is also the opportunity to develop your knowledge of the sport whilst volunteering as match officials and tabling our matches at home.Â
