Motor Racing

We aim to make racing enjoyable, affordable, and accessible for everyone, regardless of experience or skill level.

We run karting socials for all abilities, including our own championship, the University of Birmingham Karting Series (UBKS), where points are awarded based on finishing positions across social races, with ability-based tiers. For our most competitive drivers, there are opportunities to compete in the British Universities Karting Championship (BUKC) and attend BUKC test days to obtain race licences.

We are committed to inclusivity and actively promote women in motorsport through our annual women’s karting event. Alongside our karting activities, we run a variety of social events throughout the year, including sober socials.

Our Club

Whether you’re looking to race competitively or enjoy karting socially, there are opportunities for all skill levels within the club.

We compete in the British Universities Karting Championship (BUKC), which includes both Mains and Intermediates categories. Last year, we fielded four teams, with two teams competing in each category. Team selection is based on ability demonstrated at test days and social events, and drivers competing in BUKC are required to obtain a race licence. There is also a Drivers Championship for top-level drivers and a 24-hour race held in June.

Alongside competitive racing, we run the University of Birmingham Karting Series (UBKS), a social championship with different tiers for different skill levels, providing opportunities for members to get involved without requiring a race licence.

We also host an annual Women’s Karting event, aimed at encouraging more girls to get involved in racing, and organise a range of social events throughout the year, including racing-related activities, non-racing socials, and weekly Sports Nights.

Competition Opportunities

Members can compete in the British Universities Karting Championship (BUKC) across the Mains and Intermediates categories, with teams selected through test days and social events. Additional competitive opportunities include the Drivers Championship around Easter and the annual 24-hour race in June, with teams selected based on ability.

Our competition programme provides opportunities for drivers across a range of experience levels to get involved in university karting throughout the year.
