ATHLETICS & CROSS COUNTRY
At Birmingham we offer a wealth of opportunities for you to get involved in Athletics and Cross Country. Whether you are competing at the top level, just want to enjoy it recreationally, or even try athletics for the first time, there is something for everyone.
STUDENT CLUB
The Athletics and Cross Country club, partnered with Cool Runnings, is one of the largest and most successful clubs at the University of Birmingham.
The club provides a number of sessions that are included as part of its membership, and training programs that are tailored to individuals depending on their event and experience. With access to state-of-the-art facilities and expert staff, our club caters for individuals who are new to the sport, through to international athletes. The club competes in BUCS Cross Country, Indoors and Outdoors Championships and athletes from the club also compete in regional Cross Country Leagues and a host of National Relays events. There are three or four sessions a week, alongside group runs, strength and conditioning and circuits.
Members are also encouraged to take advantage of all the free sports club sessions at the Sport & Fitness club including foot drills, yoga and spinning. There are two key highlights of the year in the Athletics and Cross Country Club. For the Cross Country runners, it is BUCS Cross Country, and for the track athletes, BUCS Outdoors is the highlight of the calendar.
