Sport Hall of Fame Returns This October
The University of Birmingham’s Sport Hall of Fame is back – and it promises to be an unforgettable evening. Taking place on Thursday 30 October 2025, the second edition of this special event will shine a spotlight on the people who’ve helped shape the University’s proud sporting story.
This year, the Hall of Fame is even more special as it forms part of the University’s 125th anniversary celebrations – a momentous milestone that honours the rich history and enduring impact of Birmingham’s sporting community.
Whether you’re a student, member of staff, alumnus, or part of our wider community, the Hall of Fame is a chance to come together and celebrate the incredible talent, commitment and passion that exists across UoB Sport.

Recognising greatness – on and off the field
The Hall of Fame celebrates individuals who have made a real impact in sport – whether that’s through personal sporting success, supporting others to achieve, or making change behind the scenes.
Inductees are recognised across three key categories:
- Sportspeople – athletes who have competed at the highest level, from the Olympics and Paralympics to World Championships and elite domestic competition.
- Coaches & Performance Practitioners – the experts who support athletes every step of the way, including physios, strength & conditioning coaches, psychologists, nutritionists and more.
- Gamechangers – individuals who’ve helped transform the sporting landscape through their leadership, research, volunteering or innovation. Think administrators, officials, broadcasters, academics – and unsung heroes who make a lasting difference.
Building on a proud legacy
The first Hall of Fame took place in 2023, creating a new tradition that celebrates the depth and diversity of sport at Birmingham. This year, with several alumni heading to the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the 2025 ceremony is set to be even more special.
It’s not just about medals or records – it’s about community, impact, and pride in being part of something bigger. The ceremony captures the spirit of Birmingham Sport: high-performing, supportive, inclusive, and always aiming higher.
Join the celebration
The Hall of Fame is more than an event – it’s a tribute to the people who make sport such an important part of life at Birmingham. This October, we’ll honour their stories and achievements in a night full of inspiration and connection.
Stay tuned for updates as we reveal this year’s inductees and share more about what’s in store.
