Active Residences wins at Birmingham Professional Awards 2025
We’re thrilled to share that the Active Residences programme has been recognised with the Students at the Heart of UoB award at this year’s Birmingham Professional Awards – a proud moment for the team and a true celebration of student wellbeing at the University of Birmingham.
Putting students first
The Students at the Heart of UoB award celebrates individuals or teams who have made a real impact on the student experience, and Active Residences does just that. Designed to help students feel connected, supported and at home in University accommodation, the programme creates inclusive and energising opportunities to get moving, make friends, and thrive.
“I’m absolutely delighted that Active Residences has won this award,” said Charlotte Kulidžan-Bolton, Active Residences Coordinator. “It’s fantastic to see the team’s incredible work recognised for the difference it makes to student wellbeing and building an inclusive active community.”
Real results, real impact
Active Residences has always been about creating positive change, and students have felt the benefits first-hand:
- 95.8% said it made them feel happier
- 84.1% felt a greater sense of belonging at university
- 100% would recommend it to a friend

Looking ahead
As the academic year winds down, the Active Residences team is already looking ahead to a busy summer. With UoB Xtra, 125th anniversary celebrations, and a brand-new summer programme launching in June to support postgraduate students and those in the Birmingham International Academy, there’s plenty more to come.
“We’re really excited about what’s next,” Charlotte said. “A huge well done to the team – and thank you to everyone who’s supported us this year.
