A Journey Through Our Sporting History

Celebrating 125 - football team 1952-53

Over the coming months, we’ll be diving into the University’s rich sporting past, sharing stories from its early days to the present. From the founding of the Birmingham University Athletics Club (BUAC) in 1900 to the development of state-of-the-art facilities, each chapter reflects the passion and dedication that has driven sport forward at Birmingham.

Contributions from the work of Matt Cole

None of this would be possible without the invaluable work of Matt Cole, History Teaching Fellow at the University of Birmingham. His dedication and extensive research have helped us piece together the history of sport at the University, ensuring these stories are told and remembered. His leaflet has been instrumental in bringing this history to life, and we extend our thanks for his efforts.
