The UK’s fastest 10K athletes are coming to Birmingham

Saturday 14 June | 5–8pm | University of Birmingham Athletics Track

Get ready for an unforgettable evening of world-class athletics, as the UK 10,000m Championships return to the University of Birmingham on Saturday 14 June – and you’re invited to watch for free!

Following a successful staging in 2021, Birmingham once again becomes the only university in the country to host a UK Athletics track championship. This year, the event doubles as the World Championship trials for Team GB, with Olympic and European stars taking to the track.

World-Class athletes on campus

Some of the biggest names in British distance running will compete under the lights:

  • Patrick Dever – Olympian, 2024 UK Champion, and BUCS XC alum

  • Emile Cairess – 4th place in the Paris 2024 Olympic Marathon

  • Jess Warner-Judd – GB international and Olympic finalist

  • Megan Keith – 2024 Olympic 10,000m runner and reigning UK Champion

  • Calli Hauger-Thackeray, Phil Norman, Efrem Gidey, and many more international stars

We may even witness a repeat of the classic Dever vs Cairess showdown, first seen at BUCS Cross Country back in 2019!

Home Advantage for BUAC

Birmingham students and alumni will be well represented on the track, with appearances from:

  • Poppy Tank, Holly Weedall, Rosie Hamilton-James, Fin Proffitt

  • Alumni: Amelia Quirk, Lauren Hall, Jack Gray, Ben Alcock, and more

The championships also form part of our UoB Track & Field Festival (14–15 June), where BUAC stars like Jess Bailey, Issy Boffey, Kimani Jack, Ore Adepegba, and Harry Fisher will showcase their talents.
